Hoyas
Hoyas thrive in well-draining soil, ideally a specialized mix that is designed specifically for orchids, as this provides the optimal conditions these plants require. It is important that they are potted in a container equipped with adequate drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating at the bottom.
As tropical plants, hoyas exhibit a preference for bright, indirect sunlight; however, they demonstrate a remarkable ability to adapt to lower light conditions, although this adaptation may lead to a reduction in their flowering potential.
When it comes to watering, it is best to do so only when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, as hoyas are particularly susceptible to root rot when grown in overly damp soil.
Throughout the growing season, a balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied once a month to effectively support their growth and ensure they flourish.
Pruning can be performed to encourage bushier growth and to remove any dead or yellowing leaves that may detract from their overall appearance.
Lastly, it’s crucial to provide them with adequate humidity; occasional misting or placing them near a pebble tray filled with water can significantly help to mimic their natural humid environment, which is vital for their well-being.
